Let’s talk beauty routines, or more specifically 5 minutes or less beauty routines. (which are the best kinds, amiright?!)
It’s taken me a ton of trial and error but I am finally in a great place with my makeup routine. Throughout the years I have racked up quite the collection of makeup and can admit that I’m a bit of a product junkie. However, over the last 6 or so months I’ve appreciated the simplicity of the 5 minute makeup routine. Over these last few months I’ve also come to appreciate the beauty that is drug store makeup. I used to be one of those people that thought if it wasn’t NARS, Bobbi Brown or equivalent then it must not be as good, but boy was I wrong.
My routine these days revolves around 6 key components – skin, brows, cheeks, eyes, glow and lips. To start, if I’m feeling like I need to wear foundation I will typically stay on the lighter side and almost always opt for L’Oreal’s Lumi Cushion Foundation in C2 for my base. This stuff is incredibly light so it won’t get cakey, but also gives the skin luminosity. Regardless if I’m wearing foundation or not, I’ll always pat my face with some Maybelline Fit Me Set & Smooth Powder in Porcelain. This is amazing because 1.) its one of the only powders that doesn’t make my skin dry and 2.) it’s perfect for controlling shine and soaking up any oil throughout the day. Next, to conceal I’ll dip my beauty blender into Glossier’s Stretch Concealer in Light. Now, I literally could only use Glossier products in my routine because that’s how amazing they are, but for the sake of switching it up I’ve come to introduce some newbies to the squad. After concealing, I’ll move onto brows and will use Glossier’s Boy Brow in Brown to brush through my brows to give them that bold but groomed looked. (So effortless with this product it’s ridiculous).
Then, its time for cheeks + glow. I’m always working to perfect a glowy~dewy look so I will blush my cheeks with Glossier’s Cloud Paint in Beam. I recently dyed my hair blonde so I feel like the coral/peachiness really compliments my complexion and new do. Then I will either highlight with Glossier’s Haloscope in Quartz or will brush a little bit of Elf’s highlighter in Moonlight Pearls on my brow bone and the high-points of my cheeks. (I am obsessed with this shade and its only $4, hurr you go) For mascara, right now I am loving Urban Decay’s Perversion because it has an amazing fluffy brush that really boosts my lashes, or I also love Benefit’s Roller Lash because it literally never clumps/smears.
For lips, I’ll typically use Glossier’s Balm Dot Com in Cherry and will blot whatever is left on my finger on the apples of my cheeks for an extra pop of rosiness. If I’m going for a glossy look I’ll always reach for Glossier’s lip gloss, because it gives the perfect amount of glossy shine without the uncomfortable stickiness. And, if I’m feeling extra sassy I’ll go for NARS’ lip crayon in Dragon Girl. I think it’s the perfect bright red lip that would look great on just about anyone and I am obsessed. I’ll finish with a few spritzes of Elf’s Mist and Set setting spray (only $3! Find it here) to lock everything in place. And, presto – my 5 min look is complete!
